Barangay Lukuan is one of the oldest Barangay in Lakewood. It was created on January 08, 1959. It is 5 kilometers away from the national highway of Tubod and 9 kilometers away from the Poblacion of Lakewood. The word “LUKUAN” was taken from a name of a certain rattan called LUKWAN. Old folks claimed that LUKWAN was curly as compared to some other rattan that grew in the place and from there the name “LUKUAN” was formed. As years rolled by from the creation of the Barangay, it was rocked by problems on peace and order; people would just come and go to the place due to the said reason.
